Stephen O’Malley
Stephen O’Malley is a guitarist, producer, composer, and visual artist who has conceptualized and participated in numerous drone and experimental music groups for over two decades – SUNN O))), KTL, and Khanate being among his best-known creations. Wildly prolific, O’Malley’s oeuvre is defined by its remarkable breadth, complexity and multidisciplinary interests. It includes collaborations with a wide range of experimental artists, including Scott Walker, Kali Malone, Alvin Lucier, choreographer Gisèle Vienne, the authors Dennis Cooper and Alan Moore, Peter Rehberg, Fujiko Nakaya, Jim Jarmusch, Johan Johansson, experimental music research centers IRCAM, INA-GRM (Paris), EMS (Stockholm) and many others. O’Malley is also a vigorous live performer and has toured around the world since 2000. His live performances feature a reverberating fog of electric guitar minimalism – sorcery that challenges boundaries of space and time.
Shapednoise
Born on the ancient island of Sicily and now residing in Berlin, Nino Pedone is a producer, DJ, sound designer, and label founder best known for his work as Shapednoise. He crafts complex, distorted electronic textures, blending them with harsh, meticulously designed rhythms and cutting across genre boundaries, drawing inspiration from industrial music, the hardcore continuum, experimental noise, hip-hop, and rap. Pedone’s idiosyncratic technique has evolved across five vastly different releases: Until Human Wakes Us (Opal Tapes, 2013), Different Selves (Type, 2015), Aesthesis (Numbers, 2019), and Absurd Matter, followed by Absurd Matter 2, the inaugural releases on his multidisciplinary platform WEIGHT LOOMING featuring guest spots from NY rap duo Armand Hammer, techno-rap trailblazer French producer Brodinski, David Lynch-collaborator Dean Hurley, vanguard Philly poet, musician, and activist Moor Mother, and Bruiser Brigade’s ZelooperZ.
Crosspiece
Crosspiece is the duo project of Theodora Laird and Caius Williams. Through both composed and improvised material, they examine the tensions and fragility of dualism. Theodora Laird is a vocalist and multidisciplinary artist. Releases under her solo project ‘feeo’ have received critical acclaim. Theodora’s practice has involved in tandem with an interest in situating narratives within freely improvised music, specifically through frequent involvement in the GRAIN residency. Caius Williams is a musician from London who plays the double bass, guitar, and bass guitar. He works in collaboration with others, alongside various solo projects, often working with improvisation.
